am back so soon.. i can't believe it. two days in a row. woohoo.
i dropped in today because i have to tell someone. i am bursting. my hometown just earned the number 3 spot on cnn money's best places to live list. top 3! pretty amazing, isn't it? little papillion, making it big. hooray. how sweet for me and all my fellow papio people. am proud to call it home.
ps. the photograph shown here on the papillion snapshot page is of 'papio bay.' the pool that i used to work at. oh so fun for me to see it get a brush of the spotlight. i had some grand summers there.

i'm here to reassure you that i have not given up on writing this blog. but i've learned that i will have to be okay with a summer slow-down. every time i get on the computer, it feels like i've dropped off the face of the blog earth. every time i think about blogging, i realize that it's been days and days since i've posted anything. and that's going to have to be alright. i'll just have to deal.
i don't want posting to become something that i stress out about. i don't want to feel like i need to do it so that i can check a box. it should not be a chore. sometimes i tend to do that. i turn the sweet things into a big, bad to-do list. shame on me. so, in order to prevent that from happening here, i will learn to be happy with the sporadic.. instead of striving for daily.
and now, as a blatant rebuttal to all of my big talk about slowing down, this afternoon i sat myself down and spent my whole break on the computer. i'm not sure that's such a good thing. but no matter. it was fun. and i have another piece of the list for you today.
we've started using this wicked sweet watkins' lemon spray in the camp kitchen and i am loving it. it smells like liquid lemon drops. and it even says it has 'conscience-clearing power'. woohoo. when i added the lemon heaven to my list, that's when i realized that it was high time i cut another snippet and stick it in this spot. here you go. i may not be back in for a few days. and that's okay.. right? will you still be my readers? i really hope so. i really like you guys.

it's just been completely submerged in camp. there are almost no other thoughts that occupy my mind. all is camp. keeping the campers fed and washing commercial-size dishes and scrubbing sinks and toilets and stacking 150 plates 6 times a day and replenishing fruit bowls and sweeping up our kitchen is good, clean, hard work. life-submerging work.
june was great, big fun. july is going to be fun, too, but maybe a little more exhausting. finding a balance between work and playtime and nap time and laundry time has become a constant struggle. and finding blog time is an even bigger battle. (as you can tell by the date of my last post.) i am disappointed in my lack of writing so far this summer, but not surprised. camp is just like that. it takes over. and although that means missing out on certain things, like sleep and blogging and shaving my legs, i like it. although we work long days and have short nights, i like it. i guess the moral of this post is: i'm dead tired, but i'm not dead yet. God is giving me strength. He is so good. i never have more than i can handle, because His power is made perfect in my weakness.
tomorrow the junior high camps begin. my goal is to take it all in and not think about the busyness. i want to take my camera outside. lay in the sun. take a nap. sit under a tree with my bible. make a phone call. and maybe even write a blog post or two. wish me luck.

about this blog

Hello, I'm Summer. A people-loving introvert whose hope and life is in Jesus. His promises are my passion and my ministry is homelife. This blog is a place for me to write about everyday things. Especially food. My favorite thing to do is sit around a table, lingering over a long meal with good conversation. I live with my husband and our 2 littles. We like blizzards, thrifting, grammar, guacamole, cheerful hearts, nice manners, good movies, and making simple, real, nutrient-dense food.

"If Christ be anything, He must be everything."
-C.H. Spurgeon
